Abstract

The theridiid spider Parasteatoda lunata (Clerck, 1757) is reported for the first time in central Iberian Peninsula. It seems to be locally associated with the Eurosiberian climate and its establishment in habitats could depend mainly on the presence of objects with an appropriate shape and position. Specimens dropped from their webs and remained motionless on the ground as a defensive response.
