Based on collections made in four districts from Tumbes region, the first accurate records are given for Rutela versicolor Latreille, 1833 (Scarabaeidae: Rutelinae) from Peru, confirming the presence of this species in Peruvian territory. Additionally, Coccoloba ruiziana Lindau (Polygonaceae) is reported as the second record of plant species associated to this beetle that until now was found only in seasonally dry tropical forests, an ecologically important habitat of northern Peru.
