The article provides a list of the 67 species of Cryptophagus Herbst, 1792 (Coleoptera, Cryptophagidae) recorded in China and adjacent regions (Mongolia, Russian Far East, Nepal, Buthan, northeastern part of India, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Japan, N. Korea, N. Thailand). Cryptophagus coboi sp. nov is described. A key to all known species in China is presented and data on their geographic distribution are provided.
